About Us
Dr Jo Burnand
Dr Burnand is a medical consultant with extensive medical management experience working across all levels of the public sector within NSW and the ACT. This has included executive and senior medical management roles within the public hospital system in metropolitan, regional, and rural facilities, in addition to medical advisor roles in the health departments of both jurisdictions. These previous roles have provided her with a good grounding in both the strategy and mechanics of public sector administration and reform.
Dr Burnand has a longstanding interest and professional commitment to medical education and training across all stages of the training trajectory. She has a particular interest and remains actively involved in accreditation processes, particularly as they relate to the medical education and training context.
Since establishing IECO Consulting, Dr Burnand has completed a number of consultancies for public health organisations and services across Australia. These have included clinical service and medical workforce reviews; writing publications and guides for medical practitioners; and developing and facilitating a range of workshops and forums. She has also been engaged by medical specialty colleges and other postgraduate medical training providers to undertake qualitative reviews and assist in the development of training modules.
